Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can you act as my Accountant,
even though I am not based near to one of your
8 offices in East Anglia?
Yes. As long as we are able to physically meet with
you at least once initially, to comply with the
proof of indentification requirements of the current
Money Laundering Regulations, we
can act for you remotely. With the advances
in modern communication technology, most communications
can be achieved by use of the telephone, e-mail
and land mail.
- How much would it cost me each year for you
to look after my accounts and tax?
We charge our fees based on the time we spend on
your affairs and the levels of skill and responsibility
involved. As the requirements of no two clients
are identical, neither are the fees. We would be
pleased to quote in advance for our services, during
a free
initial consultation with you, or based on the
information you supply to us by completing the 'Fees'
page of this website.
- How do I switch from my current Accountant
to Whiting & Partners?
We are required by the ethical guidelines of our
Institute to follow a prescribed procedure before
accepting such new work:
- We must ask you to inform your existing Accountant
of the proposed change.
- You should then supply us with the contact
details of this Accountant.
- We shall then formally write to this Accountant
seeking information which could influence our
decision as to whether or not to properly accept
appointment.
- The existing Accountant is under a professional
duty to reply to this request and advise us
accordingly.
- Assuming we are satisfied that we can properly
accept appointment, we shall inform you of this
and confirm with you, in writing, our specific
terms of engagement.
- We shall then obtain any information we deem
appropriate from the previous Accountant and,
where relevant, register with HM Revenue & Customs
as your new tax agent.
- As well as preparing my accounts and filling
in my tax returns, will you provide me with pro-active
advice?
We are in business to report to you on financial
matters, to assist you with the various compliance
requirements relevant to you and
to offer business
and finance advice tailored to help you.
- Why should I choose Whiting & Partners
instead of another firm of Accountants?
Some of the key features of our service, which we
pride ourselves on, include:
- We believe passionately that the success of,
both, our clients and of Whiting & Partners
is linked to the quality of the relationship
between our partners and our clients. Our partners
make themselves available to clients as the
principal contact person and advise these clients
in the manner that they would wish to be advised
themselves.
- We are a medium sized firm, with partners
and staff numbering over 125. This gives us
the ability to provide the specialist services
offered by the larger Accountancy firms, but
at more affordable levels of fees.
- Although we act for numerous multi-million
pound turnover businesses and various specialist
organisations, our client base has traditionally
been biased towards SME owner managed businesses
and the individuals behind them. We therefore
intimately understand how such businesses work,
what their aspirations are and how they require
our help with taking away the worry of compliance
matters and in minimising their tax payments.
- As a firm which has been trading since 1928,
we are a mixture of both old and new. We uphold
the traditional core disciplines of first rate
client service and professional ethics, whilst
also embracing the new advances that the 21st
Century offers through computerisation and communication.
In addition, we are only too aware that in this
modern world, everything changes quickly, and
businesses must continually evolve in order
to survive and prosper.
- As a firm, we experience high levels of staff
and partner continuity. As a client, this means
that you will have faith that your contact person
will possess knowledge of your affairs which
dates back many years. This means that you will
not have to waste time explaining past events
and that our advice will be tailored to your
past actions.
